CAMILA BARVO

Camila Barvo (b. 1996. Medellín, Colombia) is a textile artist and designer based in London.

Her work explores soft sculpture by combining embroidery, video, natural dyes and fiber/fabric manipulation as powerful languages to document themes of femininity and identity.

As a Latinamerican maker, her cultural heritage and material identity deeply informs her practice. Her work frequently incorporates materials like fique, jute, and coffee, thereby honoring and contributing to the celebration of Colombia’s material culture.

Recent research and projects have led to several achievements, including being featured in the Royal College of Art Sustain Lab’s ‘24 Annual Exhibition, receiving the Highly Commended UK Textile Society Postgraduate Award, and exhibiting at Blackdot Gallery as part of the London Design Festival 2024.
