’Braid Warp’
There is beauty, sensuality and a sense of admiration in hair aswell there is eeriness, spookyness and weirdness. Made of wool used for doll hair, this piece was previously dyed with hair color
enhancement products to explore how textile fibres behave with hair filament manipulation.
Understanding hair as a material that changes with the weather, throughout the day, and throughout our
entire lifespan, it's evident how linked hair, as a group of filaments, is to the environment.
‘Braid Warp’ conveys how the fibre, responding to the environment with frizz and entanglement.
becomes a braid as a sculptural expression, that holds, cares and grips the fibre
into place with both strength and softness.
