CAMILA BARVO
‘DES-HILADO’

This cartography unveils the strong and emotional relationship hair holds with femininity and identity.
From textile gestures such as embroidering and unraveling she stitched the transformation stages lived when
she chemically manipulated the appearance of her curls.

‘Des-hilado’ meaning ‘unraveled’ in spanish symoblizes an internal process of unlearning and deconstructing
“absolute truths”, resignifying beauty standards and treasuring hair as a vehicle for true identity.

Hand embroidered cotton, wool, yute and fique fibers.

Naturally dyed with colombian coffee and ginger.
